Some of the key strategies AVAILLL is helping us to focus us on this term are:
Deeper comprehension: imaging (making pictures in your head as you read), inferring (using the clues in the story & what you already know to gain deeper understanding), evaluating (making a judgment and saying why), analysing/synthesizing (comparing/contrasting/sequencing/categorising), summarising (finding the main ideas from the text), and finding the main idea (using keywords/titles to identify the main ideas).
Building word vocabulary
Develop decoding and fluency (including reading with expression and reasonable pace)
Note-taking using the "Read it - Get it" and "Read it - See it" methods.
